Originally opened in 1988, our in office Ambulatory Surgical Center, or ASC, offers you all of the safety and amenities of any surgical center or hospital outpatient center. In fact, we would like to think that our Center provides patients with more individualized care and personal attention. A registered nurse is present for all surgical care.
Our surgical center is licensed by the State of Maryland. It was initially inspected and certified by Medicare, In addition to obtaining Medicare certification, our SurgiCenter was also inspected and certified by the American Association of Podiatric Surgical Facilities on 3 occasions. This is the organization responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care for Podiatric Surgical Centers.
The facility is designed with safety and comfort in mind. Privacy is always a priority. Patients will not be in a common recovery room, but rather in a private treatment room where family members can join them.
We offer both local anesthesia and twilight sleep (sedation) for our surgical procedures. There are many factors which go into deciding which type of anesthesia is best for the patient. This includes their medical history, the procedures being performed, and the general anxiety of the patient. Should Twilight Sleep be used, it is provided by certified anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse practitioners. All of these providers are affiliated with major area hospitals.
